打开窗,一阵凉风扑面而来。混合着各种机器的喧嚣声,夹杂着积浊油污的气味,到处闪亮的灯光,令深秋的夜晚失去它原有的神秘,散落在街道的电灯杆在高耸如悬崖的石森林下显得格外孤独、冷清和无奈。大自然的芬芳在这里成了美好的回忆!有幸地,窗外还能望见几棵风雨中飘摇的树影,仍然伸开那顽强的枝干,时刻呈现出自然的风采,焕发着勃勃生机,抚慰被庸俗事物骚扰的都市人的心灵。
生活在没有高山流水、长林巨壑的环境中,在缺乏烟云滋养、山林熏染的熙攘都市里,如何领略“俯视乔木杪,仰聆大壑淙”之妙。在信息爆炸的非凡时代,面对令人目眩的科技、紧张快速的生活节奏、无以喘息的时空,许多人都成了追求时尚的机器、物欲的奴隶、毁灭大自然的工具,在扭曲了的心态下,各自享受现代文明所带来丰富资源的同时,也在承受着痛苦和矛盾。传统的“灵丹妙药”正面临失效的危机。
置身大时代缝隙求存的艺术家,又该如何把握住自身的艺术生命,并走出狭窄,重塑一个属於今天的“真理”?抑或随波逐流继续掠夺和炫耀前人的成就并沾沾自喜?
难以理解“世外桃源”式不食人间煙火的超然之境,悠然、自在、坐忘、闲适,这在今天,早已成为逝去的白日梦,该如何体味清凉、淡泊?以重复又重复的凝固情感製造一张又一张苍白无力的“空壳”的莫名心态,怎能用传统精神与现代文化环境来表现?遵循“搜尽奇峰打草稿”,是否为走向生活、反映时代的惟一良方?回顾特定时空的意义,作为永远的模板,石涛又是在怎样的历史环境下高声疾呼“笔墨当随时代”的?……
在这文化多元的时代,任何事物都已失去它原有的意义与纯度,一切尽在混合中成长。固守“山水文化”的载体和传统规范,作为统杀不够“传统”的武器,无疑是对传统的误解,并倒向沦落成“文物”的险境。
诚然,水墨画要表现今天人们现实生存的境遇,光靠前人留下的那点遗产是难以胜任的,有意改革的勇士们,不得不铤而走险去寻觅未曾被发现,或随处充涉的不可知的神秘现象与力量,藉以唤醒长眠心中的直觉以及艺术情怀,抛掉所有概念,将感觉的魅惑与象徵的效果形象化,以趋达到“精神的真实”。
如果能用心留意周围的一切,你会发现所有的现象都有其慑人的魅力,身边鲜活的景象以及时代的产物自有其独具的“情趣”,新“意境”就在你眼前,就在你心中。那阳光下的公园,棕榈树,等待着使生活奔波劳累的人们休息的长椅,那用木条连接而成的小亭,不也成了人们暂阻风雨的“避风港”吗?还有我儿时一直響往的秋千,一排排弯曲的铁栏,一根根孤寂的灯柱,被朦胧月色笼罩着的屋村,风雨中匆匆掠过的巴士,停在矮矮山峦上的私家车,白云从车轮下徐徐飘过的美妙,以及那横卧在比山还高的座座大厦上面的蔚蓝色的大海,来自五湖四海色彩缤纷的船隻,令人羡慕的自由自在的鱼儿追逐着映照在大海上的霓虹灯……这些都是我生活周围多姿多彩的点滴,也是我平常关注的“景象”,我愿意体现和挖掘这平凡角落的真实,它们都成了我的画里纵横交错的“点、线、面”韵律,交织成勃勃生机的“元素”来建构一种超越自然与时空的理想“时境”的“心界”,从而表现属於今天的种种“景象”。

Different Images
One day I opened the window, an air of cool breeze brew in and touched my face, at the same time’s mingling with the roaring sound of various kinds of machines, the engines breathed out a taste of smell so oily that I could feel its filthiness. The glittering lights carried away the mysteries of the late autumn air. Then before me were piles of lamp poles scattering everywhere on the street sides, embraced with the threat of our “city jungle” appearing extremely awfully lonely and dispirit. I believe in the sweetness that nature can generate, but the essence now only becomes the memories.Luckily for me, I peeled outside from the window to find the trees are fighting against the harsh situation to strive for survival, the shades were swinging and struggling against the mad rain and the cunning wind. They are gifted by the essence of nature. Wishing that it might touch the hearts of our fellow man-kind to dispose all the troubles that occupy and attack our peaceful mind.
We are all living in a city that is lack of grand high hills and fresh running water, even for the rest of the woods and mountains, are polluted by smoky air, freshness are all disappeared. In an old poem it read, “Admiring the beautiful woodland above and listening to the dancing rhyme of the running water beneath”, this joy became the privilege to our ancestors, it can hardly be retained nowadays. In this age of high-technology, we are now being bombarded by the high pace life style, and most of the time we are blindly ahead for everything ‘modern’, everything ‘trendy’, and destroy everything from our nature. At the end, we will be totally wrapped up by this materialistic world we created and admired. One day, we’ve got to paid for our own lunacy.
Artists have to undergo big challenges to survive from this materialistic world, but how could they attain promises, and able to escape from the world’s narrowness towards the restriction in creation, to hold back faith in life, and to restore the lost truth. Or, should they continue to be pleased by earthly glories and hypocritical praises
I found it difficult to understand, if life could be so Eden-like, so free and relax can come true only in our day-dreams, how can we able to experience and reconcile from the simple way of living. If our creation is derived from an empty brain with shallow emotion, how can it become presentable at its own times. If so, our great masters like Shi Tao must be feeling extremely sorry for people nowadays, because we don’ t even understand the importance of realism from art to life.
We are living in a multi-culture era, everything seems to have lost its originality and retreat from purity, it seems that we are used to the ever-changing pace of living. If we artists treasure the “Landscape Culture” in Chinese painting tradition, then remember, not to abuse you power to preach and take it as a weapon to attack the lesser traditions, because our later generations will not be able to benefit from it.
It is undoubtedly true that when Chinese ink painters attempt to paint out the real picture of a city and its people, only by “copying” from our traditional masters are definitely not enough. Artists should be the warriors to new ideas, their devotion to art are powerful energy to welcome “new waves” that enriches the awaken spirits. According to artists, it is a transitional stage from pure feelings to presentable ideas, and it is exactly how “spirit in a concrete reality” works.
If one can pay more attentions to his/her daily environment, it is easy to discover that every scene you see is indeed a charming picture deep down your heart. In a sunny garden, besides the palm tree, there is the long chair at which tired people used to rest on it. Over there is a little wooden pavilion, it becomes the promised shelter in the wild rainy days, isn’ t it I can also see my adorable swing, piles of the curly iron bars and the lonely lamp poles, blocks of buildings under the mist of moonlit, a bus is rushing in the heavy rains, a private car is stopped by the side of a short mountain, the bright blue ocean which is lingering almost above the tall buildings, ships with brilliant colors arrived from all over the world. They are furnishing the pale city with a coat of warmth and colors, even human beings have to envy with fishes tracing after the neon lights playfully……They are bits and bits of lovely images from different secret corners of my lives, I would always take them as treasures. I love to uncover the hidden truth, because they are the spirits of my creation. Hence, I am willing to go through time and space, in order to fulfill my promises to record every real moments.
